about our President & ceo
Our Founder, President & CEO, Cornel Darden Jr. began his career after graduating with a Master's Degree of Information Science from The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His career has taken him from collegeprofessor, college library director, small business owner, and most importantly, as member and board member of several local chambers of commerce. Through his journey, he began to see a need for a more active and inclusive chamber that provides more than just a place to network. It is his vision to see that all businesses have access to the opportunities that are typically inaccessible to underserved and under-represented businesses. Through this vision, and with the help of several other area business owners, the South Suburban Region Black Chamber of Commerce and Industry was incorporated. With this chamber, he hopes to see all businesses succeed.
